Dinner with the Family
I must say I was really tired after all of the questions, it was about 8 a.m. now and I couldn’t wait till I get inside of my bed. I yawned and walked behind Christopher and he talked with a few men next to him. I wasn’t playing attention to their conversation because I was too busy thinking about sleep. Damn, can they walk any slower?
We walked out of the police station and there were a few photographers and news journalists wanting to ask us questions. Chris put his strong arm over my shoulder and lead me towards a police car.
When we got inside he asked, “My place or yours?”
I raised my eyebrow at him, “Excuse me-”
“I didn’t mean it like that, unless you want to?”
“Too far Chris, but I want to go home. I miss my bed.” I said looking out the window and puting on my seat belt. He turned on the ignition and drove towards my place.
Once we stopped by my apartment Chris quickly got out and opened the door for me. I thanked him and walked towards my door.
As I unlocked my door and I turned around and looked up at him. He gave me a small smile, “Just making sure that you’re going to be all safe here by yourself.”
I nodded, “Can you check my whole house then?”
Deep down I was still a little bit scared of staying home alone, I wanted Chris to check all the locks and making sure that nothing strange happened in my house while I was away.
After ten minutes of him checking around we were finally back at our original spot. The front door.
“Well, everything seems fine. Make sure you have me on speed dial just in case anything happens. And keep your phone by your bed side. And have a knife, just in case. Oh and lock your window, I know you like the fresh air but not tonight. And call me first thin-”
I pulled my hand away and he pulled me closer to him, he leaned in and gave me a soft kiss. I wrapped my arms around his neck and deepended, his arms circles my waist and pulled me even closer to his body.
I pulled away, “well, good night Mr. Officer.”
He winked and kissed my cheek, “Night Miss. whatever-your-last-name-is.”
“It’s BELLEROSE, idiot!”
The next morning I woke up and stretched all of my limbs across my bed. Damn, that was some good sleep I got. I walked towards my bathroom and took a warm shower and brushed my teeth. After I wrapped the towel around me I remembered that I had to call Chris and tell him that everything is fine.

“Hello?” a deep voice said over the phone.
“Hi.” I said softly.
He chuckled, “Are you awake now?”
“No I’m actually still sleeping.”
“Chriiis!” I whined.
He laughed, “How was your morning? Did you eat?”
I thought about my answer for a second as I walked down the kitchen to heat up my pot of tea, “Good, I just took a shower. I’m going to make something to eat in a second.”
“Good, my mom called me a few minutes ago asking me to have a dinner with her tonight.” he said, very quickly in my opinion.
“Okay? Have fun?” I was confused about why he was telling me that. I know that I’m his girlfriend but truthfully I don’t really care if he has dinner with him, mom. It’s not like he’s with his ex.
“Well, she heard what happened last night and she really want’s to meet you. So I was wonder if you would like to go.”
“Oh,” I said, pouring some tea into my red mug, “Tonight?”
“Yes. Just wear casual clothes, you don’t have to dress up.”
“Alright, I’ll go.”
“Thanks, I’ll pick you up at 5.pm. be sure to be ready.”
I nodded, “I will, what are you doing right now?”
“Just sending some emails to my work. Want to come over?”
“Come over to see you send some emails? No thanks.”
He laughed, “Well, I we can do something else.”
“Mhm, sure, something else. Maybe some other time. But I have to call my parents.”
Christoper groaned, and I just imagined him rolling his eyes at me, “You’re such a cock blocker.”
“Deal with it.” I said and hung up on him.
For dinner I decided to wear some dark blue jeans and a red cotton sweater that went off of my shoulder a little bit. I decided to curl my hair and do some make-up on my beutiful face. I’m starting to break out which means the blood queen is visiting me soon.
I heard a knock on my door and I got up grabbing my phone and house keys. Maybe I wallet, just in case.
When I opened the door I saw Chris standing in black dress pants and a white buttoned up shirt. “Well good evening Miss. BELLEROSE.”
I bowed down, “Evenings sir. Are you ready?”
“Yup. You dressed up well.”
“Thanks. You too.” I said and put on my shoes and turned off all of the lights in the house. We walked out and I locked my door.
His parents house was a dark brown color and it was two stories high. There were some rose bushes around and some small stairs going towards the front door. They had two garage doors and I could see they had a pool behind the fence. It was a fairly average sized house in this area.
Chris parked on the side of his house and grabbed his keys from the car, “ready?” he asked looking at me.
“Yeah, there’s no going back now.”
He smiled and walked out. I opened the door and climbed out grabbing my purse with my keys and my cellphone.
Without knocking Chris came inside of house and I immediately looked around. Dark brown leather couch, family pictures, a large TV hanging above the fire place. And it smelled like lasagna in here.
“Mom, we’re here.” Chris yelled. I heard soft foot steps and I saw a woman with dark brown hair and a red flowy dress.
“Oh you must be Mia,” she said hugging me, “I’m so sorry about what happened. Is everything ok now?”
“Yeah, I’m fine now. Your son did a good job saving me.” I smiled politely at her.
“He always knows how to do his job. How are you by the way Chris? You’ve been eating right? Doing your laundry? Keeping your house clean. I hope it doesn’t look like a pigs pen.”
Chris stuffed his hands into his pockets, “Mom it’s clean as your house. Calm down.”
“I’m calm,” she smiled and looked at me, “Everything is fine. Now come on, I don’t want the food to get cold.”
As we followed her through a small hallway I saw a dinning table with wine, lasagna, plates, and a few salads here and there. “You just finished cooking, the food can’t get cold.”
“Yes it can James!” she said to him giving him one of those deadly wife look. Don’t-mess-with-me.
“Now come on, sit down.” she pushed us towards the chairs. I sat next to Chris and we had his mother in front of me and his dad in the head of the table.
As we started to eat we made a small talk and got to know a little bit about each other. At the dessert time we heard a door bell ring. “Who’s that?” Christopher asked.
His mom shrugged, “I have no idea, maybe it’s the neighbors again? Their dogs broke some fence at the back of the house so they’ve been fixing it for a few hours now.”
“I’ll go check,” his father said sitting up and placing white napkin next to his plate.
We just sat in silence as we heard the commotion at the front door. Soon we heard foot steps going towards us.
“Chrissy!” said a whinny voice. My eyes widened and I looked at the woman in front of me. She had black hair, brown eyes, and her skin was dark brown. I would say she was a Hispanic, but she could also pass as an Italian.
“Marissa?” Chris asked. His eyes were scrunched together and I knew something was defiantly wrong. She came up to him and gave him a kiss on the cheek. “I’ve heard what happened, are you ok?”
“I’m fine. What are you doing here?”
“I’ve heard the bad new and I ran in here as soon as I could. You shouldn’t have saved that girl, she’s not even that pretty.”
“excuse me,” I said giving her a cold glare. I don’t care who the hell she is but there is no way she would be talking shit about me right in front of my face.
“Oh you’re here. What is she doing here Chrissy?” she glared back at me.
“Marissa I need to talk to you.” he grabbed her hand in his and pulled her out of the room.
His mother, Jennifer coughed, “Well I didn’t expect her to see here.”
“Damn, that boy needs to get rid of her, she’s giving on my nerves.” Christopher’s father said flipping through a news paper.
“Who is she?” I asked quietly.
“Oh, she’s Christopher’s girlfriend.” Jennifer said. And all of the sudden my world stopped.
“Well, it was nice knowing you Mr. and Mrs. De Rege. But I really have to go.” I said getting up.
“Oh honey, why? Are you sure? You can just wait for Chris he will get back and give you a ride.”
I shook my head, “No, no, no it’s fine. I just remembered that I locked out my cat outside of my house. And he’s probably been out there for a few hours now. I need to go. Nice meeting you.”
She shook her head, “Alright Mia. Goodnight. Be safe.”
I nodded feeling the tears grow behind my eyes. I needed to get out of there before I would look like a hot mess. I walked out of the house and called an Uber since they are the fastest around here. Two minutes later a car stopped in front of me. I got in and gave him my address.
